Before streaming, film travelled on rented cassettes and bootleg copies. I turned that into a festival identity: the VHS tape is the mark.

Problem

A youth film festival with a found-footage spirit should not look like a corporate event. It needed an identity with street energy, built around how Nigerian film actually travelled.

Research

The idea is rooted in Nigeria's VHS and home-video era, with Living in Bondage (1992) as the reference point, and grounded in the current context of the Nigerian film industry. Those references led, step by step, to the mark.

Design

The VHS tape is the mark. It repeats as a sticker system, a lanyard tape reel, and the anchor of every wristband and pass. The palette is bold red, yellow and blue taken from the city. The system covers campaign, event collateral and motion.

Solution

A festival identity that works as a mark, a sticker set, wearable passes and a campaign, with one story behind it.
