Finding, booking and paying for care should not need phone calls or surprise bills. I designed the patient app, the clinic portal and the brand behind them.

Fragmented Journey

  1. Discovery care
No shared directory exists, patients rely on word of mouth, roadside signage, or walking between clinics to find care.
  2. Checking cost & Insurance
Pricing is opaque, and confirming HMO coverage usually means a phone call or an in-person visit on the day.
  3. Booking an appointment
Appointments are secured by calling, queueing in person, or showing up and hoping, no way to reserve a slot ahead of time.
  4. Paying for care
Payment happens in person, usually in cash, at the point of service, with no record the patient can retrieve later.
  5. Attending the appointment
Patients re-explain their history from scratch, and wait times are unpredictable with no visibility for either side.

Aegis Journey

  1. Discovery care
One searchable directory of verified providers across Lagos, filterable by specialty, location, price, and rating.
  2. Checking cost & Insurance
Transparent published pricing and digital insurance verification are both visible before the patient books.
  3. Booking an appointment
Patients book a specific date and time directly against a provider's real calendar; the slot is reserved instantly.
  4. Paying for care
Cost and any insurance co-pay are confirmed digitally before the visit, with a retrievable record of every transaction.
  5. Attending the appointment
Patients see their own booking history in one place; each hospital still owns and stores its own clinical data.

Problem

Healthcare access is fragmented. Finding a specialist, checking insurance, booking and paying usually means several platforms, phone calls and manual steps that do not talk to each other.

Patients cannot see what they will pay. Clinics juggle disconnected systems for patients, appointments, claims and revenue.

Design

Five tabs and a five-step booking flow: provider profile, appointment type, date and time, patient details, review and confirm. Insurance coverage is shown at every decision point, so the patient knows the cost before committing. A separate web portal lets clinics manage patients, appointments, insurance claims and revenue. The identity uses a shield mark, a calm teal system, Inter, and a plain-spoken voice.

Solution

One continuous journey (find care, book, pay, track coverage) behind five tabs, and one portal for the clinic. The brand promise carries through: no phone calls, no surprise bills, just care.

Competitor Analysis

Each competitor had a primary focus on each aspect Aegis plans to swallow. Aegis plans to systematically control each aspect but not as a large scale embarkment but as a design where they all complement each other without needing to create a whole new flow for each of them in one framework.
